A dedicated and versatile violinist, Brenda has journeyed through the rich and varied landscapes of classical and contemporary music with a heart that pulses in harmony with every note. She earned a degree in Music with a specialization in Violin Performance as a Symphonic Soloist from the Universidad Nacional Experimental de las Artes – UNEARTE in Caracas, Venezuela. This academic foundation is complemented by years of studies at the Conservatory of Music from Emil Friedman School. Her violin teachers were Alfonso López and Iván Pérez Núñez. Besides studies in Classical and Jazz Theory, Piano, Composition, and Arranging, under the guidance of esteemed mentors such as Gerry Weill and Harold Vargas. Her musical career is distinguished by numerous honors, including a nomination to the prestigious Latin Grammy Award in 2020 for the album Soy Puro Teatro-Homenaje a La Lupe, alongside multiple national and international recognitions for outstanding performances and recordings. From early successes in violin competitions to accolades from prestigious institutions, Brenda's career reflects a deep commitment to excellence and a passion for music.
As a recording artist, she has contributed to critically acclaimed albums that have not only won awards but have also become integral to the Latin American and World musical canon. Her discography includes collaborations with renowned artists and ensembles like Mariaca Semprún, Ensamble Gurrufío, Orquesta Sinfónica de Venezuela, Annaé Torrealba, Cecilia Todd, Gualberto Ibarreto, Francisco Pacheco, Ivan Perez Rossi and Serenata Guayanesa. each project showcasing a dedication to both preserving and innovating musical traditions.
In the realm of orchestral performance, Rengel has held prominent positions, from Concertmaster to Principal Violin, in esteemed orchestras across Venezuela, Mexico, and the United States. Her performances have graced grand stages, featuring collaborations with Grammy Award-winning conductors and artists, bringing both classical masterpieces and contemporary compositions to life. Some of the professional orchestras she has been part of are The Orchestra San Antonio (2021-present), Aperio, Music of the Americas (2021-present), Houston Hispanic Chamber Orchestra (2022-present), Houston Latin American Philharmonic (2021-present), Philharmonic Orchestra of the Dessert of Coahuila – (OFDC) Orquesta Filarmónica del Desierto de Coahuila (2020-2022), Symphony Orchestra of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon – (OSUANL) Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (2019-2021), Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela (2012-2018).
Beyond performance, Brenda's passion for music extends into education, where she has inspired the next generation of musicians through teaching and coaching roles in various educational programs, conservatories, and private studios across multiple countries.
